Love It Or Leave It:
The Business Experiment
I’m giving myself 6 months to either fall back in love with my business and make it sustainable for my new life changes or admit that it’s not right for right now and let it go.
What is Love It Or Leave It: The Business Experiment?
Hey, I’m Laila (she / her) and I’ve given myself 6 months to either revive my business or call time on it.
Why? Because I need an intentional way to tackle the curveballs life has been throwing at me lately. Curveballs like bereavement and reduced childcare hours which have limited the number of hours I can work each week, while my monthly business expenses have stayed the same.
You don’t have to be a mathlete (luckily for me) to work out that my business isn’t going to be sustainable long-term without some changes. Put simply, I need to earn more but work less – or quit.
Rather than struggle in silence, I’ve decided to turn my indecision and anxiety into a business experiment where I share my progress (or lack of) online. Consider this your invitation to help keep me accountable and watch the drama experiment in real time!
What you get
As soon as you sign up to follow Love It Or Leave It: The Experiment you’ll get immediate access to a GoogleDoc I’m using as my online diary. In there I’m documenting my progress as I go along as well as all the background information about why I started the experiment, how I plan to run it and the specific goals I’ll be tracking my progress against.
For future updates, I hope to also host the content within a course platform and as a private podcast so you can easily find new updates.
There will be monthly reports detailing what I’ve been doing and the results I’m getting and I invite everyone who is following along to ask questions and share feedback so I can make it as insightful and enjoyable as possible.
If you haven’t followed a business experiment before but if you love:
- peeking behind the scenes of other people’s businesses
- getting insights into (neurodivergent) thoughts & decision-making
- hearing which products, courses, trainings are helping someone else
- discovering new ideas for running a business on less than 20 hours a week
- honesty about the challenges of juggling a young family alongside a business
Then you’re definitely going to want to follow along!

Frequently Asked Questions
When does the experiment start / finish?
The experiment starts on Monday 3rd November 2025 and runs until Friday 1st May 2026.
Does it matter when I sign up?
No, it doesn’t matter when you sign up. You can sign up to follow along anytime and you’ll get access to everything since the experiment started.
Can I ask you questions during the experiment?
Yes, once you’ve signed up you’ll have access to a feedback form where you can pop any questions or thoughts you want to share with me. Depending on the nature and volume of feedback, I may respond within the experiment reports so that other people who may be interested can get my answers too.
Will you really close your business if you don’t hit your goals?
If nothing changes about my situation, then yes. My business has always been important to me and part of how I see myself, but in this season of life I have small children with big needs. If I can’t find a way to juggle everything by the time the experiment ends then it will be time to close my business.
Can following this experiment help me with my own business?
I’d like to think so. You’ll see what I’m doing and what results I get, but even more valuable is the insights you’ll get into the thought processes behind my decisions which might help spark some new ideas for you.
I’d love to share the experiment, can I be an affiliate?
Yes! You can sign up to be an affiliate here and you’ll make 40% on any sales made using your unique affiliate link.
How can I learn about running my own business experiment?
If you fancy running your own business experiment, I highly recommend signing up to Sell Your Business Experiments by Ruth Ridgeway – a step by step guide to all the things you need to create, sell and deliver your own business experiment.
