Inspiring women in Business Interview – Cheryl White

Next in our inspiring women in business series, we are talking to the fabulous Cheryl White, who over the last 6 years has built a million-pound franchise brand and now helps other women do the same.

A bit about you:

My name is Cheryl White and I am a franchise strategist and franchisor. I have built a multi-million-pound franchise brand in the last 6 years and now teach other women how they can do the same. I very much believe that women can be empowered to have it all by teaching them the steps to growing a business that creates growth, sustainability, and passive income.

What is your business and what led you to start it?

I have 2 businesses Apollo care, a home care company I started in 2011 when I was a nurse, and Mercury franchise school, a business I started to help other women to franchise. I franchised my Apollo Business in 2013 and had a very bad experience with my franchise coach. I wanted to change how women franchised their business by teaching them the skills to learn and grow through mentoring so they learned and understood the process themselves.

Who has been your biggest inspiration in growing your business?

I think this has to be me! I have learned so much during my journey and adapted to change and circumstance whenever I’ve needed to. Its been tough at times but I’ve always kept going and knew I had a bigger purpose. I started my business with no experience, very little money but with a determination to help others.

What’s your number 1 tip for anyone struggling to overcome entrepreneurial overwhelm and keep going?

Take each day at a time! Anxiety comes from worrying about the future. Ask for help if needed.

What’s been your favourite mistake and what did you learn?

My best mistake was putting too much trust in my franchise coach. It really did leave me in a mess but it gave me the big nudge I needed to learn and take control. I now teach others to do the same.

If you were to start your business again today, what would you do differently?

I would learn more about the industry and how it works.

What’s been the most significant thing you’ve done to grow your business?

This has to be franchising my business. I have grown a huge, profitable business by using the franchise model. The model has allowed me to grow and expand but spend lots more time at home with my family. It has also given me lots of financial freedom.

What do you love most about having your own business?

The innovation and flexibility. I love working on my terms and building and developing my businesses. I have built up a team of amazing people around me and I am grateful to them every single day.

Where can people find out more about your business?
